According to the California Highway Patrol there were 175,351 vehicles stolen in California in 2017. That's a value of approximately $1.3 billion. That doesn't even include the thousands of car break-ins where thieves just smash and grab cellphones and other items left visible in cars. San Francisco is having a car break-in epidemic, with almost 30,000 vehicle break-ins recorded last year.

There is no better time for grilling than summer. It's a great way to enjoy the warm summer weather while keeping the extra heat generated from cooking outside. Cooking inside releases heat into your apartment and makes your AC work even harder. Most Chico apartments do not allow charcoal grills, due to the smoke and smell of lighter fluid when you start them up. Don't worry though, we have you covered. Check with your apartment manager first, but most apartments allow a gas grill on your patio.
If you want to have a pet in your Chico apartment, there are some major considerations you need to work through. First off, not all apartments allow pets, so check with your property manager before you start looking for furry companions. There are usually size, quantity, species, and breed restrictions on what type of pets are allowed. Cats and dogs are the most common, with fish coming in a very distant third.

In the dry dusty Chico summers our cars start looking bad pretty quick. Living in an apartment usually means you don't have a driveway and hose available to be able to wash your own car. You can always take your car to one of the many car wash places in town, but the quality can vary and some of them get pretty expensive. Some people just really like washing their own car, whether it's because they do a better job getting all the details clean or they just enjoy working outside.
So what are your options?
It's no secret that Chico, like many cities is dealing with a homelessness problem. This is a multi-faceted issue that involves everything from mental health, to the local economy and unemployment, to substance abuse. The 2017 Homeless Point In Time Census & Survey Report estimates that around 0.88% of Butte County residents do not have a home. That's close to 2,000 people. The transient population in Chico is being hotly debated in the city council right now and views on how to help solve this problem vary greatly. Regardless of where you fall on the issue, it can be surprising to find that a transients are regularly hanging out near your Chico apartment. So what do you do?
