holiday to do listOne of the great things about living in Chico is that our community has a generous spirit all year round, which means when the holiday season rolls around, it’s more than just giving– it’s giving with a purpose.

Chico Holidays Together has created a collaborative effort to shift the ways families, individuals and donors give during the holidays. The power of collaboration means working together to reduce the duplication of services and use donations at the right times to fulfill needs without creating waste or surplus, which ultimately allows donor’s dollars to stretch further.

The holiday projects listed below are opportunities for you to volunteer your time, treasure or talents in our community this holiday season.

Angel Tree

The angels on the Angel Trees represents low income and homeless youth ages 0-14 that live in Chico. Please adopt an angel from one of the trees and return the gift to the Chico Mall Angel Tree by December 18th.

Food Boxes

Christmas Food Boxes serve low income families, seniors and those on disability across Chico. Boxes include Christmas Dinner and a week’s worth of groceries. Support the effort by donating $15 grocery store gift cards so the recipients can choose the Christmas protein they’d like to have.

Christmas Meal

On Monday, December 24th the Jesus Center will welcome nearly 500 people for a traditional holiday meal and celebration. Join us by donating or volunteering at this wonderful event that serves so many people in our community!

Senior Lunch

There are many seniors and grandparents raising grandkids, and individuals on disability that need a place to celebrate Christmas. We will be hosting a Christmas Eve luncheon just for them.

You can also get involved by choosing one of the partner agencies below. Find one that’s a good fit for you and contact them to learn even more ways you can help.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley

Each year the Boys & Girls Club receives a lot of toys, but what the kids and families they serve really need are grocery gift cards. Consider giving a $25 gift card to Walmart or a grocery store.
